HOW MUCH DOES A FURNITURE MOVE COST? ALL EXPENSE ITEMS

Calculating the cost of a furniture move means considering all the cost items contemplated, from the cost of the company in charge of transporting the furniture to any extras for carpentry modifications useful for re-adapting – for example – the kitchen worktop, wall units and other Alone. So where to start to calculate the actual global cost of a move? First we need to figure out which moving plan we’re going to choose. In fact, the company we decide to contact does not always offer a “turnkey” service. Sometimes we can reduce costs by choosing to eliminate some items, typically the disassembly and packing of furniture. There are therefore three typical scenarios:

“All inclusive” move

The most expensive, but also the most comfortable and safest. In this type of move, every task is delegated to the movers. In this case, those who need to move won’t have to do anything at all. Recommended for those who work a lot or don’t want to take risks when disassembling and packing furniture.

Partial move

Excellent compromise for those who have time on their hands and are able to disassemble and pack the furniture on their own. In this case, the moving company will take care of moving the furniture and everything in the home or office, but at lower costs due to the lack of preliminary operations.

Do-it-yourself move

The cheapest move ever, because it is carried out autonomously with the help of rental vans and trucks. Savings are always relative, because instead of money you need to invest time, and the game may not be worth the candle. Read more about moving equipment rental here.

HOW MUCH FURNITURE AFFECTS AND HOW MUCH THE DISTANCE

In the cost items of a furniture move, the number (and above all the volume) of the furniture itself affects up to 40% of the total costs. On an estimate of 2,000 CAD, just to be clear, 800-900 CAD will be attributable to the boxes with the furniture inside. In fact, more boxes means more furniture to move, and therefore more trucks and vans to load and hours of work to count. Distance is also an item to keep in mind: the greater the distance between the starting address and the destination, the greater the cost of fuel and the motorway, or even of cargo for removals by intercontinental ship. The distance item could therefore be small for removals in the same city, but could also rise for removals from one continent to another.

A SOLUTION TO SAVE: A GROUPAGE MOVE

When calculating the costs of a furniture move, not everyone is aware of alternative solutions that can help save money. One of the most suitable is the shared move, also known as a combined move.
